Coordinator

BPJEPS, specialisation “Sports Instructor”, option “Fitness and Physical Activities”

Pré-requis

The holder of a BPJEPS, speciality “Sports Instructor”, option “Fitness and Physical Activities”, is able to independently deliver training sessions and contribute to the development of their organisation by analysing the needs of different audiences, adapting activities to multiple objectives and contexts, and understanding the ecosystem in which the organisation operates. They are able to make proposals regarding the evolution of their organisation’s activity offer and to lead new projects aligned with its mission, policies, and development strategy. They promote the organisation’s activity offer and, more broadly, support and encourage public retention in fitness-related and associated sport disciplines.

Their role operates within a framework defined by the organisation’s manager. It does not involve engaging the organisation in seeking or mobilising human, material, or financial resources without managerial validation, nor does it include team management or skills transmission responsibilities.

Most employment opportunities for holders of the BPJEPS “Fitness and Physical Activities” are found in private commercial structures: fitness centres, franchises, or independent organisations. A smaller number are also found in:

the associative sector (multi-sport clubs or clubs affiliated with the French Weightlifting Federation or the French Strength Federation)

healthcare establishments and prevention centres

works councils.

The profession is often exercised as self-employment, either full-time or through a combination of part-time positions for multiple employers across different sectors.

The holder of the BPJEPS “Fitness and Physical Activities” designs training sessions that ensure safety, maintain participant motivation, and enable progress by improving skill levels. They adapt sessions, available equipment, and practice environments to the characteristics of diverse audiences and to multiple objectives within the field of fitness and physical activities. They anticipate factors that may compromise the smooth running of sessions, considering both the level and characteristics of participants under their responsibility.

By providing learning experiences that enable sporting progression in bodybuilding, weightlifting, or powerlifting, they allow participants to engage, where applicable, in initial levels of competition and support them in doing so.

Each activity corresponding to the three domains listed in Article 3 of this decree may be carried out by the holder of the BPJEPS “Fitness and Physical Activities” with large groups, small groups, or in individual coaching.
